Me and my friend wanna start a lawn mowing company together, we are both 14 and want to know the best approach at going at it. What we were thinking is to post fliers all over our neighborhood, and charge 20$ a lawn as a flat rate. If it is a large lawn should we charge more or should we charge by the hour or wat? Also, is all you need a lawn mower, gas, and a little practice?(Neither of us have any practice at mowing lawns) If there is any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I have a lawn that has been growing wild with just wild grass and random weeds i guess. Now I want to put down a new lawn but I want to start from seed instead of sod. The ground is really hard so tilling it might be impossible I would like to know how to go about making a new lawn. I know i have to kill the old grass but I'm not sure if I need to make a new bed for the grass to grow and add new soil to the entire lawn. Please help me. Your help is appreciated.

Curious. I have read in some places that mowing a lawn can be good to prevent grassy weeds and in other places that by mowing it weakens the grass and so fertilizing can help keep the lawn well nourished because of injuries such as mowing. I am confused. From my logic, mowing the lawn can only be a bad thing for the lawn since i don't think in nature it wants to be cut and have to be regrown and by being cut you are more exposed to the air to loose moisture from inside. I can understand that in a controlled way thatching can be a good thing (maintain mosture in the soil because of grass droppings due to mowing) but i dunno.
Can someone explain the benefits of mowing?

I bought the home 4 yrs ago and whatever I try all of my neighbor's who don't have sod have better looking lawns with minimal effort.
I do the Scott's annual program and fertilize myself. I didn't aerate the lawn yet, but I will in fall.
Should I hire a company to do everything for me? What can do they that I can't? Fertilizing is easy.

I am fixing to plant Zoysia grass for my lawn and my neighbor has St. Augustine. I believe Zoysia is more dense and will overtake his lawn. I need to know how to keep the two seperate(from growing over one another) while still being able to mow without obstruction. What I really want to avoid is his grass from invading my lawn. I think those metal boarders you can hammer into the ground would work, but how high to I need it to be above ground level to effectively keep the lawns seperated?

Last july, I planted tall fescue dwarf seeds and developed into a beautiful dark green lawn, than in march started getting brown even with watering. I do have a water filter system where I have to add salt to my tank and might have forgot to shut the valve off. Is it possible that salt might have killed my lawn accidently? Or its just a lawn thats not suitable for southern california?

I am trying to find information about watering your lawn. I have found information about watering your lawn at night and such. But cannot find anything about how much water your need to water your lawn in the middle of the day and how much water is wasted.
The project that I am working on is trying to BAN watering your lawn in the middle of the day because it wastes water.
If you have any information about watering your lawn or any interesting facts please let me know.
This is for a Student Congress Resolution for school.

My lawn was seeded late Spring last year. It appears that the seed may have had a crabgrass mix. I reseeded areas of my lawn in the early Fall and applied a winterizer fertilizer in late Fall. How do I handle this issue this upcoming season? I want to eliminate the crabgrass and develop a healthy lawn.
