What martial arts helps prepare you mentally before you have to defend yourself? What martial arts instills confidence that you can take whoever tries to attack you (or at least hold your own)? Some martial arts just provide plenty of doubt whether you can handle yourself in a real fight or not. What are the ones that are just the opposite and provide a lot of confidence in your ability to fight if need be (list several)?

I'm majoring in Studio Arts and possibly French or International Relations. My current school is strong in the liberal arts but their visual arts program is underdeveloped and pretty elementary, so I want to transfer.
I feel like I rarely hear about good arts programs at small, private colleges so I'm looking for some suggestions, primarily in the Pacific Northwest but I'm open to anything.
Thanks.

Would a liberal arts education at a public college be any less grand?

I'm planning on going to the Academy of Art University in SF, but I'm stuck between whether I should take Computer Arts: New Media or Graphic Design. Could someone please tell me the difference? Also, if I do take Computer Arts:New Media, what type of career opportunities are there? I know obviously if I take Graphic Design, I become a Graphic Designer, am I right? Please help!

I have an upcoming debate in my Arts Administration class, and I was wondering what other people thought on this topic. Lend me your thoughts!
Also, do you think offering these discounts is a pro or a con?

I just want some answers from you, about how the arts have impacted your life/what the arts (singing, dancing, acting, ect...) mean to you. I personally know that the arts have had a HUGE impact on my life. But I would love to hear some opinions from other people!

What is the difference between visual art and visual arts?
I am not a native speaker and do not know how to use these expressions correctly. Can anybody explain their difference with some example sentences?

For my A-Levels, I am taking a Performing Arts National Diploma. I have been looking at some other colleges and they have similar National Diplomas but they are either entitled "Performing Arts (Musical Theatre)" or "Musical Theatre"
I am planning to go into musical theatre in the future and I'm wondering if performing arts and musical theatre are the same thing. Because I'd rather do musical theatre specifically but the only local colleges name the course "performing arts".
I'm confused! Are they the same thing?

What kind of martial arts is good for the typical school/play fight? I can do anything, but I mostly punch, submission, and pressure point/knockout striking. I want a martial art that can be a good self defense for school fights, but also to amaze people with certain moves. I will add more info if you have any questions like if I want to learn more than the fighting, ect.

I'm planning to take up a martial art, my very first martial art ever, so the martial arts in the Bourne series of movies seem highly appealing to me. But what particular martial art would you recommend I take up?
