Why is water sports more popular in south east england compared to northern ireland?

I need this for an assignment im doin for leisure studies...also i would like to know what's the best climate for water sports?thanks!

well i live in the north of england and there is a huge diffrence between the amount of places you can waterski in the north east and south east,, I think it might be something to do with the fact there is so many gravel pits, Which are ideal for watersports, Also it might be something to do with the weather,,It is much warmer I think the perfect tempreture is around 25c with the water temp around 15 Hope i have helped :D
