I will be in Guangzhou very soon and would like to have some nice addresses to shop for computer accessories. Where are the bargain shops located? Are the materials reliable?

Guangzhou Computer City How to find it :Get off the subway at Ti Yu Dong Lu and take exit B up onto the street. General description:Two very disorganized floors with a little bit of everything. Best buys:A couple of stores here with a very wide selection of CDs of doubtful pedigree, But watch out what you see on the wrapper and what you buy inside might often be completely different. Might be better to wait until your next visit to Sham Shui Po. Only in China:Check out shop 2220 for an excellent selection of music CDs, possibly the best and latest in Guangzhou. Dong Chung Computer Ctiy How to find it :Stand at the main junction of Tian He Lu and Ti Yu Dong lu facing south. You should be able to see the computer center about 100 yards away on the left, past the Construction Bank lions. General description: Three floors including a basement. Best buys: For laptop users we highly recommend Lucky computers on the second floor. These guys always fix up out notebooks when we have any serious trouble. In addition, their prices for hard drives, memory up grades and a good selection of PCMCIA cards are very reasonable. Only in China: A hefty selection of obscure equipment for closet techies from heatsink sealants to 58 varieties of wire crimpers. Tai Ping Yang Computer City How to find it: Walk along Tian he Lu until you see the big signs for Time disco. Tai Ping Yang is the second of two big mall type buildings on the right. General description: Three or four floors of hardware heaven for hardcore geeks. Best buys: Huge wholesale chop market up on the fourth floor but would you really know what to do with a bargain priced Pentium III. If not pick up a few Pentium 133mmx at next to nothing prices. He Ren Electronics City How to find it: Take the subway to Gond Yuan Quan. He Ren is the run down building on the SW corner of the junction of Jiefang lu and Zhongshan lu. General description:Vintage electronica with an occasional bargain in amongst all the chaff. Some interesting specialty shops for hard-to-find items such as surround sound systems and others that deal in very nice monitors. Bargain hard to get a big 17" screen at a truly secondhand price. Best buys: Our favorite spot for the latest VCD movies. Make friends withe one of the second floor dealers and get them to point you to all the LD quality copies. Only in China: Tons of Neolithic 386 notebooks that would be about as much use as a chocolate fireguard in comparison to current machines.
