Im really athletic and excel at whatever sport i try at. im about 5'11 and a pg for our modified at 8th grade. my vertical however is only 18 inches. it sucks cuz i cant do alot of awesome hang time stuff. is there anyway to be a great basketball player (college level) and beyond if my vertical stays this way?

Best answer: If you are one hell of a shot it won't really matter. The trick stuff looks cool but isn't all that important when compared to how you actually play.
Strength training and jump training can help your vertical a lot. Strength training alone won't do a whole lot, but combining it with jump training you can see big results. Make sure you learn how to land properly, I had a lot of issues because I was never thought the correct way to come down from a jump. Work with a coach or trainer, they should be able to help you out.
