What type of jewelry is at the end of a hollow needle?
I was just curious if they put a "special" ring at the end of a hollow needle when they pull it through your skin, or if they just us a regular piece of jewelry. It seems like they'd have to use a piece of jewelry made for first-time piercings to fit on to the needle, or does it not work that way? I'm just curious! All answers are appreciated.
I'm thinking specifically of a nose piercing. :)
I am also aware that it must be a different metal than that that would be used in a healed piercing. Curious about the making of the jewelry!

Body piercing jewellery is different to regular jewellery, so yes, it is "special"! It has to be a certain thickness depending on whereabouts on the body it is to be put and the balls act as weights. Also, different kind of materials have to be used depending on the area of the body being pierced.

If it's a ring for a nose piercing usually it's a captive bead ring. The most common metals for newly pierced earrings is stainless steel, titiuam, or gold. A captive bead ring is a small round ring that has a small gap between either end of the ring. A bead fits in this gap perfectly with two dimples on either side of the ball.
