What is the penalty for driving an ATV through protected wetlands in Minnesota?
Some kids just tore a big trail through my heavily wooded and swampy back yard which happens to also be state protected wetlands. I like the privacy my backyard gives me and also the wild state of it, because of that I don't want an ATV course in my backyard.
If this becomes a regular event and I call the police what would likely happen? The suspects looked like juveniles to me.

Best answer: Maybe if you catch them again you should go out and talk with them about it being a protected area and the consequences. Maybe give them a warning. If it becomes a problem then call the cops or authorities.
All answer: Answer 1 Ask the Police what you need to do to get the info they need. Or call the State Wildlife people and ask them . They deal with jerks like that regularly.
The charge would be "trespassing" - fine. 2010-09-01 18:28:41

Answer 3 I've seen a guy get like 6 tickets: trespassing, no registration, no insurance, no inspection, no helmet, and I think something else but cannot remember, plus it was impounded, for driving a pocket bike he just bought around in the woods. It depends on how your state does it and if its protected wetlands it should add to it. Even if it's juveniles they'll still stop them but after that it could go different ways. 2010-09-01 20:15:27
