Question about downloading your games to the harddrive on your xbox 360?
Yesterday i just witnessed the new xbox live setup and i was blown away. The first thing i noticed was the ability to download your games to the hard drive. At first i thought i could download games from my friends and vise versa and save money on games. But my friend did it and he said you needed the disc to start the game. I dont really understand this thing, can anyone explian this?

Best answer: Ok the feature of being able to download your games to your HDD is designed to reduce the loading time of your game and also the disc doesn't have to spin so it also reduces sound.
Now, you being forced to have the disc to play is a tool used so that you can't rent video games(or get them from your friends) and put them on your hard drive, which is called piracy. Its the same concept of putting file protections on DVD's
All answer: Answer 1 You have to have the game disc to play. Installing to the hard drive just reduces load times and allowing the game to run off the HDD....which saves your disc drive and reduces noise while playing. 2008-11-20 13:07:13

Answer 3 It still needs the disc to start the game but having the game saved onto the system makes for a faster loading sequence.
If you play the game constantly and have the space on the hard drive then do it, otherwise it may not be necessary.
Haven't heard of downloading from your friends though. hmmm? 2008-11-20 13:14:51
