Is there any scientific proof that an ignorance of evidence for God caused your atheism?
I am not aware of any scientific proof for your hypothesis. If you give me this scientific proof, I will become an atheist and donate $200 to a charity of your choice.
Best answer: there is no evidence. provide me some independently verifiable evidence and we will talk.
All answer: Answer 1 If it's ignorance of evidence then please present your evidence. You've made the claim, now support it. 2009-08-13 10:52:04
Answer 2 there is no evidence. provide me some independently verifiable evidence and we will talk. 2009-08-13 10:52:46
Answer 3 I never claimed that an ignorance of evidence for any deity caused my atheism. For me to be ignorant of proof, that would mean there were actually some proof to BE ignorant of.
Your semantic games are pathetic kid. I don't really give a sh1t if you believe me when I give my reasons for being atheist or not; I'm not expecting you to base your life around my mental state without substantiated evidence. The point is that you're making a positive claim and trying to get all the rest of us to accept it... but you have no evidence to back it up. Nada. Zip. You can whine about that as much as you want, but it still doesn't change that little fact.
Your analogy has, for the fifteenth time, failed miserably. 2009-08-13 10:52:55
Answer 4 I don't need to produce any proof, scientific or otherwise. I posit nothing. You posit the existence of some idea of god. Therefore, you must support your idea and prove it to us. I will convert to whatever religion you are selling and donate $200 to your favorite charity if you can produce some evidence that your idea of god is true and real. 2009-08-13 10:55:42
Answer 5 1-You've already asked this
2-You pick on atheists for what reason?
3-Where's your proof? 2009-08-13 10:56:02
Answer 6 "I am not aware of any scientific proof for your hypothesis."
Whose hypothesis now?
I mean, the reason I am Agnostic (I don't discount ALL gods, just ALL gods that modern religion puts forth) has nothing to do with me being ignorant to evidence.
There is no evidence. Not tangible evidence, not evidence that would qualify. But frankly, I don't really even need all that much "evidence" as it were.
I really just need a god that makes sense. A god that is so incredible to create the remarkable universe we live in would surely have more keen understanding of its creatures, than to damn them for admitting that they do not know he exists...when he does not show himself but through cryptic and contradictory texts.
No, if there is a creator, it reveals itself through, and only through, nature.
I won't lower and debase a creator by thinking that it would be so vain as to punish me for eternity should I not be able to sort him out from the 1 billion wrong religions.
By the way, you seem to have a bit of a misconception regarding "proof" in relation to hypotheses. We don't set out to prove a hypothesis. That is not the purpose of science.
We set out to TEST it. As such, I can prove to you that the hypothesis you provide is not valid, which is really the appropriate end-run of science.
You may donate the $200 to a cancer research center of your choice, thank you. 2009-08-13 10:56:47
Answer 7 There is no evidence for god... and the bible does not count. Show me some real evidence and then maybe I'll change me mind. 2009-08-13 10:58:45
