I have two desktops, one running Windows XP and the other running Windows 7 64-bit. I have a Linksys 4-port router, two ethernet cables, and a full copy of FlashFXP. What are my next steps needed to transfer files between PCs? Thanks in advance.
Best answer: Leave the router at default configuration - you don't need to mess with it
Make sure both computers are:
1. Set to obtain an IP address automatically
2. Have file and print sharing enabled
3. Have the same work group name
Now plug the two computers into the LAN side of the router
Start both computers
If the network settings are correct each computer will now "see" the other computer
Move the files you want to transfer to the shared (or public) folder
Go to the other computer
Look in the shared folder
Copy the files
