Anyone who has the Kindle and still prefers ordinary books? Kindle owners please review your experience!?

Is there anyone out there who has the Kindle, or has used it often and still prefers ordinary books? And for the rest of you all, can you please write a review with your Kindle's performance? And are Kindle's very breakable? How are they for teens? Thanks for all feedback in advance :)

@ Cherry Bomb, though I'm a book lover, I get to disagree with you. The new Kindle can last for one month on a single charge, while many mobile phone (like iPhone) can last no more than one day. Is it really likely to get the Kindle out of battery? And even though I love actual books, I've to accept the fact that ebook will become more and more popular because it is so much convenient, eco-friendly, and we can get dictionary, annotations, highlights, read aloud to us, all with a device without bringing another dictionary or pen or audio book. We can put thousands of favorite books in one, instead of bringing tiles of heavy books. It's a trend, we need to accept and live with it, otherwise even ourselves with get sunk in the wave and get lost in the society. I miss the past time when I write and send letter with paper, but now I accept and enjoy the convenience brought to me by email. I miss the days I listen to music from cassette, but now I accept to listen music in MP3. Does cassette company closed down? Yes if they do not do other things in demand to catch up the trend. So newspapers, magazines, even though people read things from internet, many news still come from newspapers' website and if they are smart enough and do well, they can earn even more money from web advertisement on their website (you know this is the major income source of facebook). Read actual books! Because, what if you run out of battery, will you just have to stop reading? With actual books, you can read for however long you want. And what if something goes wrong with the Kindle, like it breaks or something? With actual books, you can't "break" a book, you can tear a page but you can just tape it back. Books are meant to be read on paper, not a screen. That's how it always has been until the invention of e-books which are silly. Don't we people get enough screens and buttons in our lives? Why must we read books on screens, that's like the only thing left that people read on paper. Hell, even newspapers are starting to go down because people read the news on their computers. It doesn't count to read a book on a screen and call yourself an avid reader. I think it would be sad to see books totally die out so please, can you help keep books alive by not buying an e-book? Please? I own a Kindle. And I still get and read ordinary books. Kindles have the following advantages: 1) Kindle reader software is available for PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones, and Android phones. What that means is that you don't have to own a Kindle to access Kindle books. Once you buy it, the book is accessible from any of the other devices you have. This was a game changer to me. I always have my cell phone with me, so I always have my entire library of Kindle books with me to read when I have even a few minutes of down time. In fact, I had Kindle books for 6 months before I ever owned a Kindle (and never thought I'd buy one.) 2) Nearly two dozen commercial books a month (often more) are available for free for a limited time on the Kindle. They're usually done as promotions to get you into a new series, or to try out a new author. They may also be done to pump up the numbers of books sold. As a result, even if you don't buy a Kindle, you should check out the Kindle bookstore and use it as a way to get free books. This is in addition to thousands of public domain books that are of course also free. 3) Once you own a book, you can download it as many times as you want. 4) The Kindle itself has unbelievable battery life. My Kindle2 has two weeks of battery life on it. Current generation Kindles have a month of battery (just have to turn wireless off.) You'll never run out of battery unless you're just not paying attention. 5) The Kindle is incredibly readable. It's really just like reading paper. There's no glare nor eye fatigue. An iPad is superior for reading in the dark (because the screen is backlit), but iPads are much heavier, and have much shorter battery life (measured in hours, not days or weeks.) 6) If you get only one Kindle, get the one with 3G service, not wi-fi only. That gives you unlimited free 3G service, which you can also use for limited web surfing anywhere you can use a cell phone. Limited, because it's black and white, and mostly limited to text sites, somewhat slow, and your screen is formatted like a book, not a computer. But it's still good enough to google, read e-mail, read wikipedia, look up weather, and access google maps from anywhere without charge. 7) Kindle books are generally cheaper, particularly if they're best sellers. 8) There are plenty of sources for free or cheap books (you're not limited to the Amazon store.) Examples: Smashwords, the Baen free library, and more. Now for some cons: 1) Kindles are black and white. The books have color information, which means if your device can display it, you'll see it. But not on a Kindle. 2) Kindles are electronic devices. They can't be immersed in water, and aren't as durable as a paper book. A responsible teen can handle it. It probably shouldn't be dumped without protection into the bottom of a bookbag, however. Or stepped on. Or immersed in water. 3) Kindles are expensive. Actually, I never thought I'd buy one because they were too expensive. I got one when Amazon had a warehouse sale. They do that once in a while. 4) You can't trade Kindle books with friends, or loan them books. They're tied to your Kindle. Similarly, you can't borrow a Kindle book from the library. 5) Paper books are more durable, and low-tech. You don't have to put them away when the stewardess tells you to turn off all electronic devices. Trying to explain to a stewardess that digital ink doesn't draw any power is like trying to explain heaven to dogs. They don't get it, so you just have to put a Kindle away. 6) You can often get paper books for free or dirt cheap at libraries, used book stores, book sales, and thrift shops. You can't resell a Kindle book, so there's no resale market. I still get paper books at the library, when I want a cookbook (in color, with pictures), and for trading on paperbackswap.com. But I wouldn't give up the Kindle, either. Those cons are why ebook readers won't completely replace physical books. The biggest threat to books is actually movies, alternative entertainment, and laziness (fewer avid readers.) According to Amazon's statistics, most Kindle owners are 40 or older, and their highest consumers of physical books (even after buying Kindles.)

Obviously, that other answerer doesn't have any experience with a Kindle or other reader. I'm a retired printer from a family of generations of printers. No one on the planet has more respect for printed books than I, but I don't miss reading them. Not AT ALL! The new Kindle, with wireless turned off, has a battery that lasts for a month! It can be charged while reading, too. The life of a battery charge versus reading a printed book is not something that needs to considered, let alone a reason to rule out digital books. If you're in the US, I'd highly recommend that you go ahead and pre-order the Kindle. You won't be charged for the purchase until it ships, which gives you lots of time to check out other readers and e-book stores. Then you can cancel the Kindle if you choose something else. If you get it and change your mind for any reason, you have 30 days to return it. Kindle customer service is the best and the user forum is full of helpful information from real users who, like myself, ARE avid readers, regardless of what some non-user considers that to be.
